Breathtaking lake named UK’s most beautiful has 22 islands and charming village | Travel News | Travel

The UK is home to some truly awe-inspiring scenery. From forests to rivers all the way through the charming villages and lakes, we are truly spoiled for choice. However, according to new research, one lake in particular stands head and shoulders above the rest for its beauty.

According to Go Outdoors, the most scenic place in all of the UK is Loch Lomond in Scotland, a massive lake with nearby National Park and even an ancient village to explore. Nestled in southern Scotland, Loch Lomond is the most scenic lake in the UK with more than 600,000 social media posts.

The 22-mile-long lake, the largest by surface area in Britain, is surrounded by hills in Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park, making it the perfect spot to snap that Instagram perfect photograph. Visitors can make the most of their visit by climbing the nearby Ben Lomond mountain to get even more incredible views.

The massive loch is filled with a whopping 22 islands. To see these islands, a boat tour is your best bet. Inchcailloch is one of the most easily accessible islands of Loch Lomond, and has a ferry service available from Balmaha. It’s part of the Nature Reserve and is home to otters, deer and many different species of birds.

The largest island of Inchmurrin is also accessible by ferry, with a service running from the jetty at Arden. This island has a rich history and a number of interesting ruins including Lennox Castle and a 7th century monastery.

On the lake’s western shores is the charming village of Luss which dates back to the 11th century. Luss is filled with quaint stone cottages, flower-filled gardens and provides gorgeous views over the loch.

As well as its mediaeval charm, Luss also has lots of independent boutiques perfect for picking up souvenirs of your trip and plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars to sit in and enjoy the incredible views.

This village can be busy in the summer months, but arriving early can allow you to beat the crowds and make the most of your day out.
